B.Sc., Data Science was established in the year 2024 in our college.

Objectives

The main objective of the Program is to produce software professionals with hands-on experience on few basic technologies who will be able to handle software challenges in industry as well as academia.

Scope

Data Science is a buzzword in the technology world right now and for good reason, it represents a major step forward in how computers can learn. The need for Data Scientists is high in demand and this surge is due to evolving technology and generation of huge amounts of data aka Big Data.

Eligibility

The candidate should have passed XIIth Science with Mathematics subject.

Strength

Data Science is the study of computation, information, and automation. Computer science spans theoretical disciplines to applied disciplines. Algorithms and data structures are central to computer science. The theory of computation concerns abstract models of computation and general classes of problems that can be solved using them.

Programming language theory considers different ways to describe computational processes, and database theory concerns the management of repositories of data. Human–computer interaction investigates the interfaces through which humans and computers interact, and software engineering focuses on the design and principles behind developing software.

Areas such as operating systems, networks and embedded systems investigate the principles and design behind complex systems.

Computer architecture describes the construction of computer components and computer-operated equipment.

The latest trends have changed the world completely and are shaping new ways of living and trading and one such trend is Data Scientists in the world. For today’s youth, Data Scientist is one of the sought-after career aspirations. Managing huge amounts of data and properly storing and sorting data is the need of today and tomorrow for small startups to well-established national and international companies.

The data revolution has created novel challenges and unprecedented opportunities. The vision of the Department of Data Science is to create a first- class academic department that trains the next generation of students as data scientists who will solve these grand challenges and innovate through world- class research to take advantage of these opportunities.

• Educate students in a field that has ushered in a once-in-a-generation revolution, comparable to the industrial revolution and the original computing revolution.
• Provide an environment for leading edge research that has a strong and rapid impact on the economy and that re-establishes New Jersey as a world leader in technological advancement.
• Create a source of scholarship on the many technical, ethical, and privacy issues that ubiquitous data creation is constantly confronting us with.
• Establish a centre of technology knowledge and a "go to organization" to service data creators, providers, managers, curators, and users of the State and the Nation.
